Microwave your toothbrush?
Tuesday, March 31st, 2009I read an article the other day that says we should all microwave our toothbrushes.
I know, it sounds weird, but not really when you think about it. According to Fitsugar.com you should get a new toothbrush every six months, but you really should be changing your toothbrush more often, like every three to four months. When the bristles get worn and lose their rigidity, they don’t remove plaque as well. But what about in between? Well they say that you should also do some maintenance within that three month period. Hey your toothbrush is just sitting out in the open or in your medicine cabinet and there are a lot of germs and bacteria floating around ready to attach themselves to your brush, so to prevent colds, flu, and other sicknesses, once or twice a week run your toothbrush through the microwave. Yeah the microwave. Just pop it in on high for ten seconds immediately before brushing your teeth. They say that if someone in your home is sick, you may want to sterilize it in the microwave each time you brush. If you’re the one who’s sick, after the illness passes, throw away your old toothbrush and get a new one, you’ll be healthier for it. Now go brush your teeth!
